Great way to describe this cultural difference which is obvious when there but hard to articulate. I remember while working in the Uk how we would make fun of the French because their idea of a working lunch was to go out for a two hour three course meal while ours was sandwiches in the meeting room. We were so certain that our way was better - the prioritising of efficiency and optimisation you talked of. It’s provided economic growth perhaps but what we’ve given up money can’t buy. It’s not just the weather people (incl myself) are planning moves to the old world.
I just love this
Thank you!!

As an American who's been living in Spain for a few years.
I recognize all this like the back of my hand.
🖤
I would not be able to live in America again.
Great piece, Tom. 🙏
Thank you so much! It is a truly marvelous, enchanting place.
I love it here man. 🖤
Truly, truly. 🙏
Love this…and where in America would you be told, “no…sit.”?
I’ve been racking my brain and I can’t come up with a good answer besides one’s home.
Life is to be lived. But that’s me, 15 years of living in Spain.
Color me jealous!!
This on-the-go culture is truly exhausting. Slow down and savor the beauty around us. Thanks for writing. I enjoyed reading this!
Amen!
