Most people will treat you to the extent you treat yourself by default and vice versa. It’s important to treat yourself well so that you are treated well and so you treat others well.

I used to have a daughter-in-law who simply did not want to engage in any form of manual labor. Her favorite phrase was “I’m not handy.” It was kind of like a get out of jail free card in Monopoly. For the record, she was very successful at avoiding work. Har har.😆😆

I’ve found that as the breadth of my capability expands I can build the skills I revere the most even higher. To your point, these days there’s no excise not to know, especially for anyone smart enough to have learned how to read, not literacy, but as interpretation. Great piece and an interesting lens on a common problem, especially during the time of year when resolutions are still unbroken.
