Wow, Tom, you never failed to impress!😃

A couple of thoughts: since you were driving up to Boston, you were not really going to get lobster after all, rather, you were craving some lobstaaah, and whether it was a freeway, or a highway, or a parking lot, up in Maaaaasachusetts it had to be a paaahking lot. Of course, you had to bring back fond memories of Old Blue Eyes with the remark that if you can drive in New York, you can drive anywhere. I guess so. If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere… allegedly anyway. I had you pegged for a Notre Damer, through and through, but the Brooklyn Inya is just too powahhhful! 😃

I tend to live my life in this way but there is one exception. Having read this I have been educated as to why that person drives me incredibly bananas. No more. I will now expect even less from them than anyone else. Thanks for defining the cure I've been desperate for. Good read. Thank you, Tom.

I struggle with this a bit because I absolutely get what you're saying by building a bit of failure buffer into your relationships - but I also believe that calling those relationships out on those behaviours with firm accountability actually builds stronger bonds. I was recently doing a self-review at work, and I put down: I LOVE TO PROCRASTINATE, PLEASE BUG ME ABOUT DEADLINES. I think it's better when we can ask for that accountability, but I don't always think it's unwelcome if it isn't, it's just awkward and you have to navigate it, especially with friendships.

Speaking of navigation, I also am the guy on the freeway that is like, "Look, buddy, if you want to keep weaving like a madman, be my guest; I'll be over here in lane 3", but while part of me would want to roll my eyes when the dude spins out on the shoulder, I would also probably pull over to make sure he's ok. I would like to think we are all complex enough to have room for both wolves inside us, because surely, my time for stupidity will come, and I hope someone will call me an idiot and extend me a hand to help me up.
